Dj rivmic has been connected to the dance music scene since the late 80s,
he first got a set of citronics- and a Gemini grandmaster flash style mixer ; in 1989
Initially he was connected to the subcultes of graffiti writing , skateboarding and break dancing but it wasn’t long
before he developed a heavy vinyl habit and was attending the first raves in the midlands area ,amnesia house
at the Mecca’s of midlands club land The eclipse Coventry, and Shelly’s Stoke on Trent
His Dj mentor and friend Sonny woods ( planet of the breaks) took him under his wing ; and taught him the basics
of mixing techniques and because of this friendship it enabled him to dj at the main events in the his area in the early nineties

In late 92 the opportunity arose to move to Manchester and quickly rivmic had linked up with the Mix factory and XTC ,
at that time rivmic was using the Dj tag EFX , which he subsequently had to change ,
whist in Manchester he played at Friday’s city centre session at the banshee with the mix factory and guests
and played at various bars and venues in the city centre through out the week and made guest appearances
on the Mix factories Sunday session on Sunset FM
at after he returned from Manchester to Shrewsbury in 94 he teamed up with a friend Tony O , and created a wicked record shop
called Uniform records where he was instrumental in preaching the drum and bass word ,serving customers ,
and putting on local events in conjunction with the shop.
in 1996 rivmic relocated to London , and ; helped create a dj collective then set up a number of club sessions called nuphunk- nu horizons and Intro
Nuphunk ; ; ;
one of the first residencies was a the Vibe bar, brick lane , where they remained a permanent fixture
on a Wednesday night helping to serve up a diverse collection of different flavas which they did successfully for over a year ; , ; ; ;
in this same time period rivmic and friend Hugo B , set up a dope online record store specialising in the
classics from the dance music and drum and bass scene Blupencil
which was designed by one of the most talented artist out there

Blupencil and want to work in conjunction with them, ; Moving shadow and GLR to name a few.
also in this same time period Rivmic was presenting his own show the Blupencl oldskool archive show on interface radio one of the pioneers in online broadcasting
and also guest appearances on Gaia live on a Monday night
he would occasionally make guest appearances on some of the London pirates abyss fm being one of them
and finally in the fall of 2000 he formed and create drum and bass imprint Coup de main recordings
, which put out 001 youpho malfunction , and was well received , he attended a studio music course in Islington , and this gave his the desire to set up
his own rig and learn the basics of making music , which he had dabbled with in the past on a Amiga set up and octamed but it wasn’t until he had completed his course
that this started to become something that he really wanted to do
unfortunately due to personal reason he quickly had to relocated back to his home town of Shrewsbury ; ,
he teamed up with a local musician Chris - jazzur , and they started creating a fusion of sounds
which they recorded under the phuturologist tag , quite experimental for the time , he cut a number of the tracks on plate ,
and enabled him to mix in his own co creations, and from that day on he wanted to do and learn more
after a spell working for apple computer this enabled him to learn more about logic and
calibre, rockwell , dbridge, instramental , alixperez, data, commix, furney, jazzanova,j dilla,sean diabolik,immortal technique, derrick may, juan atkins, autechre, aphex twin, richie hawtin,good looking records, metalheadz,photek, source direct, dillinja, lemon d, marcus intalect, martyn,too name but a few
